Neste início de Campeonato Paulista tem sido raro assistir a um erro de Felipe Melo. Titular em três das quatro vitórias do Palmeiras até aqui (em uma delas foi poupado), o meio-campista mostra importância tanto na hora de defender, quanto ao atacar. Os números neste início de Estadual confirmam o bom momento do camisa 30.

Em um esquema que casa melhor com suas características, Felipe é o principal ladrão de bolas do Paulistão, mesmo tendo ficado fora de uma rodada. Primeiro meio-campista no time de Roger Machado, ele tem 13 desarmes certos na competição, o líder neste quesito.

Quando o Verdão tem a bola, Felipe Melo continua sendo peça importante, agora na construção de jogadas. Com 131 passes certos e apenas três errados, ele é o segundo titular de linha com melhor índice neste fundamento, atrás de Antônio Carlos. A diferença é que o zagueiro dá mais toques laterais, enquanto o volante arrisca mais bolas para “quebrar linhas” dos adversários.

Um exemplo disto são os lançamentos do camisa 30. Dois deles tiveram participação direta em gols do Verdão: o primeiro contra o Santo André, quando Willian completou a jogada depois de Borja receber uma bola longa de Felipe, que também deu a assistência para o gol de Dudu, domingo, contra o Bragantino.

Nenhum outro jogador de linha acerta mais lançamentos por partida do que Melo (são quatro por jogo). Ele tem aproveitamento melhor no fundamento até do que goleiros – apenas sete lançam melhor com as mãos do que o palmeirense com os pés.

Com um ano de Palmeiras, Felipe Melo vive seu momento mais estável. Durante a passagem de Eduardo Baptista, ele também jogou bem, mas tem sido ainda mais importante com Roger Machado. Diante dos entreveros com Cuca, jogou pouco com o técnico campeão brasileiro e foi recuperar o posto no time já no fim da última temporada, com Alberto Valentim.

Sempre com entrevistas marcantes, o volante está aparecendo menos fora de campo. A fase mais calma tem lhe rendido, inclusive, a função de capitão – nas duas vezes em que Dudu foi substituído por Roger, Felipe foi quem recebeu a braçadeira. Para alguns jogadores, ele é um exemplo no vestiário.

– O Felipe Melo é excepcional, de grupo. Ajuda todo mundo e cobra também, o que é importante. É o que está fazendo a gente evoluir. Hoje, nos treinamentos, a gente se cobra mais, a gente pede para o companheiro estar mais focado, mais concentrado. O Felipe é sensacional, está ajudando a gente, está passando tudo que viveu lá fora. Estamos evoluindo muito com ele e tenho certeza que ele também está evoluindo com a gente – disse Antônio Carlos.

There is the example of the Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] that has 29 employees while Cricket Australia has around 27 or so,” Butt said.”When I took charge, the staff strength of PCB was over 1,200 but it is around 600 now. Then 99.9% of the staff is already over-paid. This was also pointed out to me by some members of the GB and we have asked for guidelines from the Prime Minister in this respect.”

Leeds United winger Ian Poveda was at Ewood Park on Saturday to watch Blackburn Rovers.

The Lowdown: Poveda’s absence

Poveda signed for Rovers over the summer on a season-long loan deal but has been out of action since November after requiring ankle surgery.

Poveda shared a video on his Instagram story on Saturday afternoon in the stands at Ewood Park for Blackburn’s 1-1 draw with Blackpool.

He also posted a picture of himself at Thorp Arch on Friday, revealing he is ‘getting real close’ to a return.

The Verdict: Return imminent?

It remains to be seen if Poveda will return to Rovers before the end of the season, with both clubs in contact in recent weeks regarding the winger’s situation.

However, following his trip to watch Blackburn in action yesterday, it looks as if he may well be linking up with them for the final games of the season.

Leeds will want to ensure he is back to full fitness before sending him back to Ewood Park, though, so it could be one to keep an eye on over the next week or two.

Against all expectation Pakistan carried the second Test into the fourth day against an increasingly agitated England team as Zulqarnain Haider played the innings of his life to defy the hosts with 88 off 200 balls. When Graeme Swann bagged his fourth wicket – on the way to a career-best 6 for 60 – the visitors were 101 for 6, but Zulqarnain found outstanding support in the contrasting styles of Mohammad Amir and Saeed Ajmal to build a lead of 112 and finally make the series a contest.Zulqarnain added 115 with Ajmal, who played his part with a gusty maiden Test fifty from 77 balls despite taking a peppering from England’s quick bowlers, after initially stemming Pakistan’s latest collapse as he and Amir blocked their way through 36 overs. England, especially a hot-headed Stuart Broad, grew increasingly frustrated on a day where the home side’s lofty fielding standards slipped before Swann finally broke through late on.The day, though, belonged to one man’s single-minded determination yet it could all have ended first ball for Zulqarnain. He will have become an immediate fan of the UDRS when he avoided becoming the first Pakistan batsman to bag a king pair after being given out lbw to Swann. Five hours later he lofted Swann to deep mid-off, 12 short of the hundred he deserved, but having lifted the spirits of a nation.His resolute defence certainly got under the skin of Broad who was convinced he had Zulqarnain caught behind but there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the on-field not-out decision. However, on this occasion the review wasn’t called and it proved the correct decision as Azhar had missed the ball by miles and Broad was left a little embarrassed.Amir was another obstacle for England, showing up his top-order colleagues with a sturdy defence. He was given three lives, first when Broad compounded his problems with a wild throw when Amir had 1 and would have been well short, then Paul Collingwood – who earlier dropped Imran Frahat – couldn’t gather a gentle chance at slip off Swann and Alastair Cook missed an opportunity at silly point off Collingwood.Broad eventually extracted Amir with the second new ball when he edged to first slip, but there was no shifting Zulqarnain as he slowly started to come out of his shell. He took the attack to Swann – at one point backing well outside leg – and reached fifty from 150 balls which was celebrated with gusto. He got under the skin of England’s bowlers with his mannerisms at the crease, and the fact the hosts became riled is the biggest compliment they could have paid Zulqarnain.Ajmal, though, was the one provided the innings impetus as he gave as he good as he got, pulling Broad and Steven Finn through the leg side and showing a straight bat to Swann. However, in the over after he greeted his fifty with a roar to the dressing room he edged Swann low to slip after the offspinner had switch to round the wicket.It was a tough day for England’s attack and Swann was far and away the pick having barely played a part – except at second slip – until today. He struck in his first over and claimed three more in his first spell which, at one stage, included 67 consecutive dot balls as he bowled 17 maidens in a 24-over unchanged stint until being given a break shortly before tea.Swann was introduced towards the end of the opening hour, after the quicks failed to break through, and began with a magical ball to remove Farhat as his third delivery dipped in towards leg stump then gripped and turned past a lunging batsman to take the top of off stump. A year ago Swann produced a pearler on this ground to remove Ricky Ponting, but this delivery has every right to be the finest of his career.Swann, though, was just getting started. He then produced a Ponting-like ball to remove Azhar as the right hander was suckered into driving against the spin and was bowled through the gate. There was almost a third for Swann straight away when Umar Akmal showed his complete lack of understanding of Test cricket by charging his first delivery, another one which spun through the gate, but Matt Prior couldn’t make a tough take.It was with some irony, then, that Akmal’s innings was ended in the most defensive fashion as he padded up to a straight ball from Swann. He tried to save himself with a review, but the ball was clipping the bails. Another beautiful piece of bowling from Swann did for Umar Amin and the end looked close. The 29-year-old left hander batted for 10 hours and 35 minutes, recording the longest innings of the summer and making the hosts sweat on a win which looked a near certainty at the start of the final day.Adams shared a last-wicket partnership of 88 inside 43 overs with Danny Briggs (15 not out off 97 balls) to help post a second innings total of 405 and set the hosts 168 to win in 33 overs after tea. Adams’ innings was the longest both minutes and ball-wise this season, beating Mark Ramprakash’s 564-minute 223 off 395 balls for Surrey against Middlesex in May.Left-arm swing bowler James Tomlinson then took three quick wickets to reduce Lancashire to 17 for three in the sixth over of their chase. Leeds United have been handed a boost in their bid to bring Haydon Roberts to Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

What’s the talk?

In recent comments made to Sussex Live, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter revealed that the centre-back will likely be leaving the American Express Community Stadium ahead of the 2022/23 campaign – as the 19-year-old is in need of regular first-team football in order to continue his development in the professional game.

And, while Potter is likely referring to a season loan deal for the defender, the 46-year-old’s remarks will certainly have caught the attention of Victor Orta, who is reported to have a long-standing interest in the England U19 international – even seeing an offer for Roberts rejected in the summer of 2020.

Orta must move for Roberts

Considering the sheer amount of potential Roberts quite clearly possesses, should an opportunity arise to land the centre-back this summer, it is one Orta simply must do everything he can to take.

Indeed, Potter himself has previously revealed his excitement regarding the 19-year-old’s ability, stating back in September of last year: “He’s a really exciting player. He is obviously young and he has got a lot to learn but he has got some really interesting attributes.

“Very strong, very quick, very mobile. Powerful. Good with the ball, brings it out well. He’s got good courage so he’s got a lot of things that are really exciting, that fit how we want to try and do things.”

Furthermore, back in 2020, The Athletic spoke to a number of scouts about Roberts’ future in the game, with one even drawing comparisons between the Brighton starlet and the former Leeds loanee, Ben White:

“I like him. I think he’s a good defender. [The only question is] about his size to play there, but then again look at Ben White. You probably wouldn’t think he is so good in the air but he’s been outstanding for Leeds this season.

“One plus point with Haydon is he is left-footed. To have a left-footed centre-half is so much better. It offers variety. He’s got quality on the ball. He has played in midfield as well a few times.

“It’s good for young centre-backs to go in there, put themselves under a bit more pressure playing in other areas. I’ve seen him play left-back a couple of times for England. Whether he wants to play there is a question mark.”

As such, while it is true that Jesse Marsch is not exactly short of options in the heart of his Leeds defence – with the likes of Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk, Liam Cooper and Charlie Cresswell in his first-team squad – the signing of Roberts would nevertheless appear to be an astute one for Orta to make this summer.

Indeed, with the right-footed Cresswell coming on leaps and bounds this season, forming a partnership between the 19-year-old and the £4.2k-per-week Roberts – who Andy Naylor dubbed a “talent” – could well prove to become the base on which the Leeds side is built for many a year to come.

وتشير صحيفة “ليكيب” الفرنسية إلى أنه لم تعرف بعد طبيعة إصابته وخطورتها، حيث من المقرر أن يخضع المهاجم لفحوصات في المساء لتحديد التشخيص.
