Arsenal legend David Seaman criticises Emery despite 4-0 win

Sometimes you just can’t win as a football manager.Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Unai Emery’s side had one of their best performances of the season on Thursday, as Gabriel Martinelli looked extremely impressive and Kieran Tierney grabbed an assist.

However, David Seaman seemingly wasn’t happy with the former PSG boss’ decision to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on in the 79th minute of their Europa League win.

The former goalkeeper was baffled by the manager’s switch, and you can kind of understand why.

The Gabonese striker is one of Arsenal’s most important players, so bringing him on for ten minutes when you’re already 4-0 up seems like a bit of an unnecessary injury risk.

Fortunately, the Gunners striker didn’t pick up a problem against Standard Liege, but he easily could have done, and if he had, Emery would have undoubtedly received even more criticism for making the substitution.

The Gunners now face a home clash against Bournemouth before the international break.

Tottenham fans are in uproar after hearing players feel underpaid and overworked

The Athletic report that Tottenham players feel like they are working under a regime where they are ‘overworked’ and ‘underpaid’, and Spurs fans can’t believe what they are hearing.

As a result, they have laid into the squad, with some suggesting they would love the opportunity to be in their shoes whilst stating they would happily swap jobs if given the choice.

There is, unsurprisingly, little sympathy for the players, many of whom earning more in a week than the average Spurs follower probably earns in a year, yet there has been a clear lack of effort on the pitch in recent games, with defeats against Bayern Munich and Brighton worrying signs of the spiral they’re in.

It is unlikely supporter sentiment will change until there is an upturn in results, and instead the Spurs faithful will likely become more disillusioned with the current set of players if their attitudes don’t change.

Here is some of the reaction from irate Tottenham fans.

Arsenal fans react to Santi Cazorla replacing Dani Ceballos for Spain against Norway

Santi Cazorla replaced Dani Ceballos in Spain’s match against Norway on Saturday, a substitution which has made some Arsenal fans quite emotional.

Others have taken the opportunity to heap praise and recognition on their former midfield star, who became a genuine star at the Emirates quickly after joining in 2012. He made a total of 180 appearances for the club but left in 2018 following a string of injuries. He now plays for Villarreal.

As a result, many feel upset that he is no longer at the club, having now proved his fitness and quality.

His introduction for Spain was made more significant for some due to the fact he replaced a current Arsenal player in Ceballos, who joined the club on loan from Real Madrid in the summer.

The emotional reaction from some, epitomised by one fan who said he had “tears in my eyes”, demonstrates the level of love there is for Cazorla, who had earned only one cap since 2015 prior to his introduction, due to the severity of his injuries.

Here is some of the reaction from Arsenal fans to Cazorla replacing their midfield man.

Everton fans reflect on the life of Howard Kendall four years after his death

Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their love and fondness of their legendary former player and manager Howard Kendall after this Thursday marked the fourth anniversary of his death.

Kendall took charge of Everton on three different occasions, with his first appointment as manager coming back in May 1981 and his last game coming in May 1998. In this time, the Southport-born stepped out as boss 207 times and went down in history as he won the First Division title in 1984-85 and 1986-87, whilst also picking up an FA Cup 1983-84.

The former Evertonian, who sadly passed away aged 69, also stepped out as a player for the club 78 times over the course of two stints at the club. Kendall scored nine times for the Merseyside outfit and was often deployed at centre-back for the Toffees.

Leeds fans believe the quality of their football has regressed since last year

Marcelo Bielsa was an absolute revelation in the Championship last season.

The Argentine played some of the most beautiful and exciting football the second-tier had ever seen, and Leeds were absolutely steamrolling teams at the start of last season. A 4-1 win over Derby told the story.

The Whites’ success has carried through to this campaign as they currently sit in and around the main contenders for promotion, but a number of fans feel that the quality of football on offer at Elland Road has regressed.

It’s hard to disagree with that sentiment either as Leeds have netted six fewer goals than they had at this point in the previous campaign, and they’ve not scored more than one in any of their last six matches.

The football may be less entertaining, but the results are still coming as the Yorkshire outfit are currently one point better off than they were this time last year.

However, after a season of glorious football under Bielsa, some supporters have grown accustomed to being entertained, and they seem far from happy with what they’re seeing this term.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…

Arsenal defender David Luiz insists he has no plans to leave

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

David Luiz insists he has no plans to leave Arsenal just yet, per ESPN Brasil via Sport Witness.

What’s the word?

The defender joined the Gunners in an £8m deal from Chelsea in the summer.

He has since made a total of eight appearances in the Premier League, even scoring the winner in a narrow 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.

And while he says he does not know what will happen in future, having been asked about a potential return to Brazil, he maintains that he has no desire to move away from north London.

He said: “I, today, have no such plan. I don’t have that as a goal. But we never know, football goes very fast.”

He added: “I’m sincere to say that today I don’t have this idea. I have a two-year contract with Arsenal. I have my ambitions and goals here with Arsenal, so I came here. But we never know in the future.”

Seasoned winner

One has to imagine that Luiz is hoping to win trophies with Arsenal, having hinted towards his “ambitions and goals”.

The defender has won trophies at Benfica, PSG and Chelsea, including the Primeira Liga, Ligue 1 and the Premier League, one Champions League trophy and two Europa Leagues.

He is exactly the kind of character that the Gunners need and bringing him into the club was a major step forward.

And with him insisting that he is planning on sticking around for some time, his influence will be felt by the youngsters such as Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli.

His words, then, will be a boost for those looking for the Gunners to continue improving under Emery.

Aston Villa fans heap praise on Jurgen Klopp following Liverpool defeat

Liverpool’s impressive run of form continued on Saturday as the champions of Europe overcame Aston Villa with two late goals, but despite defeat at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s side, some of the West Midlands’ side fanbase have been praising the German coach.

Goals from Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane in the final eight minutes ensured the Reds maintained their unbeaten start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

It also saw them continue their ten-month unbeaten run in the league that’s seen the Merseysiders fall fractionally short of the title to Manchester City whilst also sitting at the summit in the current campaign.

Villa’s fans would have been understandably frustrated at letting their lead slip in the dying embers of the game, but post-match comments from Klopp praising the newly-promoted side have seen a number of fans from B6 praise the Liverpool boss.

Here are some of the best reactions from these Villa fans.

Everton fans react as Anthony Gordon pictured with the first-team

Everton fans have reacted after pictures of Anthony Gordon training with the first team at Finch Farm emerged on the club’s official Twitter account.

For some time now, the Everton faithful have wanted Gordon to make the jump to the senior squad having impressed with the U23s. The 18-year-old has six goals and three assists in 10 games this season, and the poor form of others has thrust him into the limelight.

The likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Alex Iwobi from attacking midfield have just a goal each in the league so far, with the Iceland international providing one assist as well.

Recently, Gordon spoke about his opportunities with the first team but stated how he and Marco Silva “don’t speak” about his chances with the first-team.

However, fans clearly want him to come up now more than ever.

Many fans have stated their desire to see him play, as one supporter even said he is “better than Barkley”, whilst another follower stated he expects to see him against the Saints.

The clash down at St. Mary’s is one of the biggest of the season, as a loss for the Toffees would put them on the same points as the relegation-sitting club in the table.

Here’s what the Everton fans have had to say about Gordon this time…

Sheffield United fans applaud Enda Stevens for his award win

Sheffield United left-wing-back Enda Stevens has been voted the Irish Overseas Player of the Year, as confirmed by the club’s official channels.

The 29-year-old has been an ever-present figure for the Blades this campaign, making 12 Premier League starts and getting 2 assists in that time.

He has also averaged 2.3 tackles, 2.3 dribbles, 1.7 clearances and 0.9 interceptions per game, highlighting the influence he has had, which will have played into the recognition received:

Stevens signed on a free transfer from Portsmouth in 2017, helping the Blades get to the Premier League with 11 goal contributions last campaign.

It is this that has seen him become a well-liked figure at Bramall Lane, while also helping him on the way to 11 international caps for the Republic of Ireland.

The award indicates just how impressive Stevens has been and Sheffield United fans think the award is fully deserved.

Matteo Guendouzi provides the secret behind his "warrior-like mentality"

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Matteo Guendouzi has opened up about the way in which karate has helped build his mentality, as reported on Arsenal’s official channels.

What did he say?

The Frenchman has been an integral player for Arsenal this season, playing in all 12 of their Premier League games so far.

He has worked hard defensively, making 1.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game.

The 20-year-old has also been making an impact on the ball, averaging 1.6 dribbles per game and completing 88.1% of his passes.

Speaking to the Gunners’ official channels, Guendouzi discussed how karate has helped his football career: “I think it really helped me in terms of my mentality, being a fighter on the pitch, and always wanting to win and get stuck into duels in a bid to really help the team.”Karate has helped me a lot in that regard. When I was young, I came third in a karate competition in France, which was great, but it was difficult to combine football and karate.”I certainly have very fond memories from doing karate. In terms of flexibility. I’d say I’m more flexible on the pitch which is a great help.”As for my fitness, karate is very intense, so I think that’s why I’m able to make such a big effort and have that warrior-like mentality.” Mentally strong

There are suggestions of mental fragility within the Arsenal dressing room, so it is vital that there are strong characters present who can help lift the team.

FFC have already claimed that Guendouzi can become a leader in the midfield following recent events surrounding Granit Xhaka, and these comments certainly support that point.

It can even be argued that the midfielder, who is rated at £40.5m on Transfermarkt, has shown his leadership credentials already, with Adrian Clarke writing for the Premier League: “His form has been outstanding in this second season, with his enthusiasm, drive and precocious leadership qualities rubbing off positively on his team-mates.”

His mentality could prove to be very important for the club moving forward, especially as he is only 20-years-old and has plenty of scope for further improvement.
